I find the process of creating endlessly fascinating. I never know where ideas will come from or where the smallest of ideas will take me. The only thing that is for sure is that I will wake up in the middle of the night thinking I've stumbled upon some sort of brilliance in my sleep. Often I wake in the morning to find that what I thought was brilliance at 3:14 am is nothing short of insanity. And then there's times that something just clicks.
I had one of the clicking moments last weekend, and I haven't been able to get my mind off it since.
I had been doodling Friday night and Saturday morning. Paper dolls. What I considered a complete waste of time, but oh, so enjoyable.
Here's what I came up with:
And here's the WIP that I dreamt up at 3:14 am on Saturday morning...
I love it when that happens. And yes, I'm fool enough to fill in that whole ruffle on her dress with French knots... which will probably take me the better half of my life... but it will be worth every second!
I thought those were french knots when you posted a pic the other day! Wow you are dedicated! lol The dolls are so cute!

Oh I love her so much. I think I was still online when you were drawing her. She is darling. And for the record, paper dolls are never a waste of time.

What fun! She's adorable and yes, you are insane to fill that whole ruffle w/ French knots. It'll look great, though.

Out of the blue, middle of the night inspiration - does it get any better?! Our minds are so free - and things just find a way to flow differently than the daytime I think. Anywho, I love your sweet girls!!! Your designs would lend themselves very well to real paper-paper dolls!!!

I popped in for a visit on a tip from a friend and ... ohhhhh my goodness! I can now say I no longer live under a rock. I will be spending every free moment of this weekend peeking through your archives - that is if I can pull myself away from this post. The paper doll was adorable on it's own - but the fabric version is blowing me away. Carolina

The paper dolls are irresistable!!!
Can't wait to get into my old box I've had around since the girls were little enough to play with them. Your new fabric line is my favortie to date. Love the vintage lace.
as well as the ginko and the colors are right up my alley. Your family room looks so fresh and inviting.
